iOS
iOS is an operating system that runs the iPhone, iPad, second generation Apple TV and the iPod. It is a platform for Apps (applications for Apple). iOS was a huge innovation in the tech world. Redefining mobile communication in this world because of it's pure intuitiveness. As of January 2015 there has been estimated 1.4 million apps made. These apps were announced to have been downloaded 100 billion times. In January 27, 2015 Apple announced they've sold one billion iOS devices since the original iPhone in 2007. There are many Apps that many professions use. Some examples are banking and retail. Apps first arrived to support the online banking operation. Customers trust the Apps for payment. Gradually, online banking became second nature and has become universal because all the major banks use it. The retailing business is using iOS as well.
Fired from Apple
Forstall was widely considered a mini-Steve Jobs. Though he was not liked by designers Jony Ive or Bob Mansfield. Tim Cook (Apple's CEO) had a choice: Keep Forstall, who ran the most important business at Apple, and alienate Ive, and Mansfield. Or fire Forstall, and keep those guys happy. Forstall led the development of Siri, and Apple Maps. Both were failures, and embarrassments for Apple. He asked Forstall to sign his name to the embarrassments but he refused. So Cook fired Forstall.
What is he doing now?
He's left the coding business entirely. He's moved on to being a Broadway producer. According to his first ever tweet he said "I'm thrilled to be co-producing the Broadway musical Fun Home http://funhomebroadway.com opening this Sunday. Bravo to the phenomenal team!" In June 2015 the musical won five Tony Awards and won best new musical.
